Care Packages

I've been meaning to write a post about the care packages that we have been sent the past few weeks, but Luke and I tend to tear them open and devour all of the contents before I can manage to take any photos. I thought I'd share with you some of the most recent goodies we've been sent by our families that remind us of all of the sweets we are missing at home (is this a bribe to come home perhaps?).

A very happy easter indeed as we still try to finish whats left of the package from Luke's mum. And yes that is our mattress. Isn't it a pretty design?

Can't forget the caramel bunnies. I think they should be in the freezer for safe keeping. There were many more sweet treats that came in this package, but they seem to have mysteriously disappeared...

If these aren't worth the airfare of going home, then I don't know what is. These are AMAZING and I think I need to call up Emerald and sort out getting them imported into Australia. This is the second time my parents have sent us some of these and this time we got a double dose. They are only lightly dusted in dark chocolate cocoa powder which makes them really healthy and perfectly acceptable to eat half the container in one sitting. If you haven't tried these yet you are seriously missing out on one of life's greatest treasures.

I think these will sit around until Anna Collins shows up and puts them in the microwave. Although they are a nice reminder of home, I think they taste better when they're stale.

Last but certainly not least my new sneakers! My brother seems to have convinced my mother that I NEEDED new sneakers to run the half marathon, so there they are ready for the 13.1

Thank you for all of the lovely packages everyone has sent and continues to send. It is really great to get things from home and I know Luke agrees!!

Easter Weekend Part 2

I know the anticipation has just been killing you! On Sunday I started Easter Sunday like most people do, with a 9 mile run. Luckily, I survived, and went on to enjoy the rest of the day.

We headed over to Darling Harbor to catch some of the Hoopla Festival that was going on there. They basically set up a free circus and since Luke and I were both deprived of this joy during childhood, we couldn't wait to see what a circus was like. We caught three of the free shows (obviously) which consisted of some crazy acrobatics, a quirky band and some trapeze artists. It was an overall incredibly fun afternoon. Can't wait to go to the circus again.

After a full day at the circus we headed over to Ross's house for an Easter feast!

 I cut the vegetables...

and its not Easter without chocolate!

Easter Weekend Part 1

Easter in Australia is fantastic, because they came up with this amazing idea to DOUBLE the length of the weekend. That's right folks, 2x the eating, drinking, and sleeping! Which is exactly what we did for all four days (ok I had to work on Monday, but MOST people got four days).

On Saturday we took a ferry to Cremorne Point which is just across the harbor to the north with beautiful views of the bridge and the city.

Then we went for a walk around the bay to see the lighthouse and loads of spiders in the trees

Then back on the ferry in time for the setting sun and finally getting our first taste of the Lord Nelson's Brewery Hotel - claiming to be the oldest pub in Sydney.

My Favorite Things

Just thought I would share with you a few things that are making life a little bit better this week.

The taste and smell of fresh bread (but not how dirty my baking tray is...)

A lazy Saturday at the beach and drinks while we watched the sunset.

I also signed up to run the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon this week.  In anticipation of all of my very hard work ahead I have bought some Nesquik so that I can properly refuel after a run. I even used it this morning (yes, it actually was after a run!) Mix 1/2 chocolate milk and 1/2 coffee for the most delectable iced coffee.

And you didn't think I could actually publish a post like this without mentioning the bridge did you? There is no better start to the day than a run past this

This isn't a bad view in the morning either

If that's how to start the day, then this is definitely the way to finish it

What's making your days that little bit better this week?
